The Making of the Kuruwita Legacy

Ever since a little boy and receiving his first toy Land Rover at age 2, Hasitha fell in love with Land Rovers. His fascination, admiration and knowledge about Land Rovers and utilitarian off road vehicles grew as fast as he did as a young boy. Growing up in Sri Lanka and experiencing off-road adventures at a very young age with his father, a well renowned Veterinarian and an elephant expert, gave him many life lessons and unforgettable experiences.

He watched with admiration as the Land Rovers and off Road vehicles helped in rescuing animals, drove through very rough conditions to reach places no other vehicle could and sometimes transported animals to safety and still managed to make it home without being stranded.

With the incorporation of Prestige Auto Performance in 2012, he has successfully managed to build his own Automotive Business and a reputation for specializing in Jaguar and Land Rover brands in the Washington Metropolitan region. As a ASE Certified, factory trained engineer who specialized in Jaguar and Land Rover with over 20 years of experience and a Lifetime member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), he is doing the job he has always wanted.

He has served as an active member in the BMWCCA (BMW Car Club of America) and Porsche Club circuit for over 20 years and his passion for cars has never ended. As he has diversified his business to restorations and rare builds, he has his own unique collection of Automobiles in Sri Lanka and USA.

He serves as the Director and founding Partner of Career Builders (pvt) Limited in Sri Lanka a recruitment and outsourcing company and apart from his professional commitments, he serves as a Director of  FSDHV, Inc (Foundation for Sustainable Development with Human Values) a non profit organization incorporated in Washington DC, providing livelihoods for women and children in developing countries. Coming from a military family, he takes pride in supporting our troops and veterans and contributes and volunteers in many military events.

This captivated him and motivated him to learn about the mechanical aspects of these amazing vehicles. He looked no further but started his own little workshop as a teenager in his own garage, dismantling his parents and neighbors’ cars before he moved to Washington DC to further his studies in Automotive Technology. While studying full time he managed to secure an internship with a Jaguar and Land Rover Dealership which helped him immensely in putting his knowledge to practice.

His passion for travel and Land Rovers were combined with his travels to the Australian outback and African safaris where he experienced how the Land Rover Defenders performed in different conditions and the use in different continents. That inspired him to import and rebuild Land Rover Defenders in the USA.

After completing his Degree in Automotive Technology and a Bachelors in Business Administration from the University of Maryland and years of experience working in the industry, he decided to build his own brand and business.
